"We Proved We Have the Ability to Pay": Galatasaray Vice President Defends Record-Breaking Osimhen Transfer

Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray has formally finalised the historic signing of star striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, a move that has rocked European football.

Signing the Nigerian star, who is valued at an incredible €75 million, is the most costly transfer in Turkish football history and a strong declaration of purpose from the Istanbul powerhouses.

A key player in the intricate discussions, Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu, was blunt in his criticism of the club’s detractors and competitors when Osimhen arrived.

Kavukcu proudly stated that the club’s ability to close the acquisition without having to liquidate any assets was evidence of its sound financial standing and strategic preparation.

“My president and I believed in this and started back in January. We worked hard to raise the funds, without selling anything,” Kavukcu said. “We’re paying part of the fee up front and will cover the full amount within a year. We said Galatasaray had the ability to pay, and we proved it.”

Galatasaray has accomplished a historic feat with the transfer, especially considering the intense competition from elite Saudi and European clubs.

The vice president stated that Osimhen made the decision to return to Istanbul, which he now views as home, despite the fact that other parties were attempting to entice him with extravagant offers.

Osimhen’s decision was greatly impacted by his incredibly successful loan stint with Galatasaray the previous season, during which he led the team to a domestic double with 37 goals and 8 assists.

At the airport, the forward was met by thousands of devoted fans who followed his aircraft and embraced him as a returning hero, demonstrating his emotional bond with the team and its ardent fan base.
