UTME: Parents Share Struggles On Day One, Supervisors Commend Candidates

Supervisors of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have commended candidates for their punctuality to the examination hall as the examination commences.

The 2025 UTME commenced on Thursday in over 800 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria.

Speaking with THE WHISTLER, supervisors at some centres in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory, revealed that the examination started as planned at 6:30 am with biometric screening.

One of the supervisors at the Rosa Mystica Academy JAMB CBT Accredited Centre, Salihu Mustapha, stated that the candidates arrived early, which aided the smooth process of the examination.

“The candidates came out early. It is commendable. We started accreditation around 6:30 am, and the examination started promptly around 8 am,” he said.

Mustapha also commended the centre for providing a conducive atmosphere for the examination, adding that there were no technical issues or challenges during the examination.

He noted that the centre hosted two sessions of the examination and that there would be three sessions on Friday and four on Saturday.

“With the way the examination is going, I do not envisage any challenge on the remaining days. I commend JAMB for its plan that has ensured that everything went as planned,” he said.

At the Ade-Ola Int’l Schools JAMB CBT Accredited Centre, the Supervisor, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi, echoed Mustapha’s sentiments, commending JAMB, the candidates, and the center for their efforts in making the examination run smoothly.

“It started timely. The candidates came timely. The centre itself and the management are very cooperative. They have well-arranged seating, security, and everything is running smoothly.

“JAMB is always evolving; they always maintain standards. The only emphasis is on punctuality, and the candidates and ad-hoc staff came in early. For me, this year, there was more compliance,” he said.

Some candidates who spoke with THE WHISTLER confirmed that the examination was hitch-free.

“We started at 8 am. The examination went on smoothly. This is my first time, and I enjoyed the experience. My computer did not malfunction. There were no technical issues,” Adams George, one of the candidates at the Ade-Ola centre, said.

However, some parents complained about the time fixed for the examination, saying it might affect candidates coming from far-off places.

“I know someone who is supposed to take her examination in Bwari, and she lives in Deidei. A lot of challenges might happen on transit that might affect the person meeting up with the examination. At least, they should start by 8:00 am or 8:30 am,” a parent, Shaibu Peter, said.

Another parent, Ijeoma Joseph, added, “We slept here yesterday so as to make it. We came from Madalla. The examination time is too early.”
