UNILORIN Appoints 20 Professors, 31 Readers

The Governing Council of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved the promotion of 51 academic staff to Professors and Readers.
The institution’s registrar, Mansur Alfa-Nla, said in a statement that the promotion followed a recommendation from the university’s Appointments and Promotions Committee.
The statement noted that the promotion was presented at the meeting of the Council held on Monday, January 27, 2025 by the vice chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, (SAN).
According to the statement, twenty readers were also promoted to the professorial level, while 31 senior lecturers were promoted to the position of Readers.
Amongst the new professors are Ismail Adua, who emerged as the first professor of International Aviation Law in Nigeria; the executive secretary of Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Nusirat Elelu, who becomes the first professor of Veterinary Medicine at the University, and the University’s Librarian, Kamaldeen Omopupa.
Other new Professors include: Olufunmilayo Abiodun; Fausat Kolawole; A.G. Animasawun; A.S. Afolabi; E.E. Anyebe, and H. M. Omokanye.
Others are L.K. Mustapha; Kehinde Kadir; A.O. Akanbi; J. A. Adeniran; Olubunmi A. Mokuolu, and O. A. Iyiola.
Also promoted Professors are: Shakirat Bello; A. A. Kilishi; A. Y. Ahmed; O. A. Fawole, and L. O. Raji.
