Umahi orders opening of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road for sallah travel

ABUJA – The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately open all completed sections to ease movement during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Umahi said the directive was aimed at ensuring safer and smoother journeys for commuters traveling for the festive period.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Francis Nwaze, in Abuja, yesterday, the minister noted that an earlier accident on the road had been fully cleared, adding that security agencies had been deployed to strategic points along the route to maintain law and order.
He assured road users of improved safety throughout the Sallah holidays.
Sections of the road had been closed to traffic to allow contractors handling ongoing re-construction complete the project.
