Two ladies being sexually abused by criminals in their hideout in Anambra State have been rescued while their abductors were arrested.

They were rescued by police operatives attached to Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state in the late hours of Saturday.

This was contained in a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday.

SP Ikenga said the operatives acted on credible information and raided an identified black spot at Umunaga Village, Awka South LGA.

According to him, “During the operation, one Okechukwu Chinwuko (m), aged 27, of Umunaga Village, and Ezenwa Chinedu (m), 22 years, of Umuneri Village, were arrested. Other incriminating objects recovered from them include one pump action gun, four live cartridges, a cutlass, criminal charms, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.”

He stated that the suspects were undergoing interrogations on their modus operandi.

In another development, police operatives in Igbo-Ukwu Divisional Police Headquarters, Saturday, recovered one white Peugeot J5 Boxer bus with Reg No: AKL 896 XB, a vandalised lister electricity generator, a roller, pipes, an iron bar, pliers, a screwdriver, a big metal cutter and a pair of black canvas from some suspected vandals.

“The hoodlums were vandalizing the lister model electricity generator attached to the MTN mast located opposite Saint Martin’s Catholic Church, Umudege, Igboukwu, and on sighting the police team, they took to their heels,” he stated, and called on anyone, especially residents of the area, to assist the police with useful information towards apprehending the culprits.
