Troops, vigilantes repel fresh bandit attack, recover three AK-47 in Zamfara
Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have repelled a fresh bandit attack in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, recovering three AK-47 rifles from the assailants.
The development was revealed on Wednesday by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X.
According to the report, the clash occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along the eastern axis of Tsafe, after bandits attempted to infiltrate the area through a remote forest corridor near Yankuzo.
Security sources disclosed that the bandits were intercepted while advancing toward Tsafe town. The troops, supported by local vigilante groups, engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
“Several bandits were killed, and three AK-47 rifles were recovered during the encounter. The attackers were forced to retreat with casualties, although the exact number is yet to be confirmed,” one of the sources said.
As the fighting intensified, military reinforcements were deployed to the area to maintain pressure on the fleeing bandits.
