Troops repel armed herders’ attack in Benue, secure Daudu community
Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled an attack by suspected armed herders in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported that the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, during a routine clearance patrol by the troops in collaboration with other security agencies.
Security sources revealed that the soldiers came under sudden gunfire while advancing through a notorious flashpoint along the Daudu–Gbajimba axis.
The troops responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that forced them to flee into nearby bushes.
“No casualty was recorded among our personnel, and the area has since been secured,” a military source confirmed.
Following the attack, security forces have intensified surveillance and launched follow-up operations to track down the fleeing assailants and forestall further hostilities in the area.
