Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have launched a manhunt for suspected bandits who abducted two farmers in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to a post on Friday by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via X, the victims, Halilu Nuhu of Gidan Bawa village and Mamuda Aliyu of Bagarera village, were abducted around noon on Thursday, July 31, while working on their farms.

The armed assailants, numbering about six and riding on three motorcycles, reportedly stormed the farms and whisked the victims away into a nearby forest.

Following the incident, troops swiftly mobilised to block possible escape routes and are currently combing suspected hideouts, including forested areas stretching toward the border with the Niger Republic.

Security sources said efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the abducted farmers, while the military continues to intensify operations to apprehend the perpetrators.
