Transfer: Why we didn’t sign Lookman from Atalanta – Galatasaray manager, Buruk

Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk, has suggested that his team didn’t sign Ademola Lookman in the summer transfer window because Atalanta refused to loan the Nigeria international out.

According to Buruk, Galatasaray were interested in signing Lookman and were even excited before Atalanta made their decision.

“We were interested in Lookman. We got excited wondering, ‘Is something like the Osimhen case happening?’ but Atalanta definitely said they won’t send him on loan,” Buruk was quoted as saying by Turkish football pundit, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.

Recall that Lookman was desperate to leave the Serie A club and even submitted a transfer request.

However, Atalanta rejected offers from both Inter Milan and Bayern Munich for the forward’s signature.

Atalanta have already decided to include Lookman in their Champions League squad after he failed to get a move away from the club this summer.
