Transfer: Osimhen should have been sold earlier – Guintoli

Former Napoli sporting director, Cristiano Guintoli has said the club should not have waited until this summer before selling Victor Osimhen.

Guintoli, who now occupies a similar position at Serie A giants Juventus, facilitated Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli from Ligue 1 club, Lille, in 2020.

Osimhen left Napoli to join Turkish Super Lig champions, Galatasaray, on loan this month after a long-drawn transfer saga.

Guintoli stated that Napoli took too long before deciding to sell the striker.

“Maybe he should have been sold earlier, but Aurelio [De Laurentiis, Napoli President] is a wise and intelligent businessman. I owe him so much, and I love him,” he told Corriere della Sera.

Osimhen has made three appearances for Galatasaray since his arrival at the club.
