The Nigeria Women’s Football League’s first stanza produced a series of entertaining matches with a record number of goals, while the newly promoted Remo Stars Ladies have punched beyond their weights.
The Ogun-state-based team currently top Group A of the NWFL following their impressive start to the season, which has culminated in six wins out of seven, and also an unbeaten end to the first stanza.
They have scored 17 goals while conceding three to open up a two-point gap over second-placed Edo Queens.
Edo Queens occupy the second position with 17 points, Abia Angels in third with 13 points, and Nasarawa Amazons complete the top four cast in Group A with 12 points.
In Group B, River Angels lead the pack with 17 points, the same point as Bayelsa Queens in second but with a better goal difference.
The Pride of Rivers and the Restoration Ladies ended the first stanza unbeaten.
Delta Queens have amassed 10 points from seven games to sit third, while Naija Ratels of Abuja have the same number of points in fourth.
The top three teams in each group will qualify for the NWFL Super 6, where the champions will be determined.
The mid-season transfer window is currently open, allowing the teams to strengthen ahead of the resumption of the second stanza on March 19.

2: Abia Angels’ Mary Lucky registered the highest number of hat tricks in the league, scoring three goals in two separate matches: a 3-0 win over Confluence Queens and a 4-1 thrashing of Dannaz Ladies.
3: Remo Stars and Edo Queens emerged as the best defensive teams, each conceding just three goals in their seven games.
