Top 10 countries with the largest army force in the world

The world’s largest army in 2026 (total personnel: active, reserve & paramilitary)
is no longer defined by active-duty soldiers alone.

Today, many countries maintain large reserve forces, paramilitary units, and mobilization systems that significantly increase their total personnel figures. These combined numbers give a broader picture of national defense capacity and readiness.

Below is a ranking of the world’s largest military manpower bases in 2026.

1. Bangladesh — 7,004,000

Bangladesh tops the global list, driven largely by a combination of active forces, reserves, and paramilitary structures. The country maintains a strong internal security network alongside its regular armed forces, contributing to its large total personnel count.

2. Vietnam — 5,750,000

Vietnam has one of the most extensive reserve systems in Asia. Its military structure is built around mass mobilization, reflecting its historical emphasis on territorial defense and national resilience.

3. Ukraine — 5,000,000
