Tinubu Hails NNPCL Boss Ojulari At 60

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Bayo Ojulari, on his 60th birthday.

Ojulari, who assumed leadership of NNPC Ltd in April following a restructuring of the company’s board, was hailed by the president as a visionary leader whose career has been marked by transformative and visionary leadership.

Before his appointment as GCEO, Ojulari served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company.

He also previously held the position of Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) from 2015 to 2021, after decades of experience in local and international oil operations.

According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed confidence that Ojulari will continue to deploy his experience to further reposition NNPC Limited as a transparent, world-class national energy company.

Onanuga added that the president noted with satisfaction the recent increase in oil production from 1.5 million to 1.7 million barrels per day within two months and welcomed the renewed drive toward achieving the target of 1.9 million barrels by year-end.

“You have your work clearly defined before you. As head of NNPC Limited, your mission is to win investor confidence and ensure that NNPC becomes a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth. On your birthday, my message to you is simple: continue to serve God and country with dedication and integrity, knowing that your efforts will bring renewed hope to Nigerians and strengthen our energy industry.

“I pray God to grant you strength, wisdom, and success as you lead the NNPC Limited to greater heights,” Tinubu was quoted as saying in his birthday wish.

Ojulari hails from Kwara State and holds a mechanical engineering degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and former board trustee of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Nigeria Council) and his career spanned senior roles in Europe, the Middle East, and Nigeria.

Under Ojulari, the Tinubu administration targets raising oil production to two million barrels daily by 2027 and three million barrels daily by 2030.

The government also wants gas production to be jacked to 8 billion cubic feet daily by 2027 and 10 billion cubic feet by 2030.
