Tinubu Consoles Prof Iya Abubakar Over Wife’s Death
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended condolences to elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, Professor Iya Abubakar, over the passing of his wife, Hajiya Ummu Abubakar.
According to a statement from her family, she passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Hajiya Abubakar, who was also the mother-in-law of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, died at the age of 78.
In a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu said the deceased was devoted to God and dedicated to family values, saying she will be remembered for her good deeds.
The President prayed for God’s mercy on the departed and urged her family to maintain the good name she left behind.
“President Bola Tinubu commiserates with elder statesman and former minister of defence, Professor Iya Abubakar, over the passing of his wife, Ummu Abubakar.
“Hajiya Ummu Abubakar passed away in Abuja. She was 78.
“The President states that the deceased, who was also the mother-in-law of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, will be remembered for her devotion to God and dedication to family values.
“President Tinubu prays for God’s mercy on the departed and urges her family to maintain the good name she left behind,” the statement reads.
