Supporters of the recently impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, have gathered at the Speaker’s Lodge on Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos on Saturday for a heroic welcome.
The supporters, dressed in pro-Obasa vests and caps, were reportedly planning a heroic reception for the embattled former Speaker.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Obasa, who was reportedly out of the country when he was impeached, is expected to arrive at the lodge soon.
Obasa was impeached by a majority of his colleagues over allegations of misconduct.
Following his removal, Mojisola Meranda, representing Apapa Constituency I, was elected as the new Speaker.
Meranda was sworn in immediately after her election, becoming the first female Speaker in the history of the Lagos State legislature.
The Speaker’s Lodge, located at 47 Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja, has been identified as Obasa’s anticipated arrival point.
Armed security personnel, including police officers, are stationed in the area to maintain order and prevent any potential unrest.
