Super Eagles Star, Ajayi Ruled Out For Four Months

Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi is set for a long injury layoff after suffering a hamstring injury while in action for his club, West Brom.
Ajayi, who has been churning out consistently impressive performances for club and country is expected to undergo surgery.
He sustained a hamstring injury during his club’s recent EFL Championship match against Cardiff City.
West Brom coach, Carlos Corberan has confirmed that Ajayi will undergo surgery, and he is expected to be out of action for four months.
He said, “Semi, unfortunately, has suffered a more difficult injury. It was an action which was an accident. In this action, he has broken his muscle in two parts.
“The best way to manage this injury is with surgery because surgery helps reduce the risk of suffering this type of injury again.
“There are injuries which affect the tendon in specific areas where you have to have surgery. The surgery delays things by around two weeks, but it also reduces the risk of the injury reoccurring.
“Returning in about 16 weeks is the approximate time when you have this type of surgery.”
He has played 12 matches for West Brom in the Championship this season.
Ajayi’s injury is a major blow for Nigeria ahead of the Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin, and Rwanda on November 14.
