Soludo Swears-In Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen
The Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated the 21 local government Chairmen who were elected in last Saturday’s Local Government Council Areas election.
Governor Soludo inaugurated them at the Executive Chambers, Government House, Awka.
Those sworn-in include, Chibueze Ofobuike (Aguata), Ifeanyi Chiweze (Anambra East), Fidelis Nnazo (Anambra West), Romanus Ibekwe (Anaocha), ThankGod Anago (Awka North), Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), and Alphonsus Ofumelu (Ayamelum).
Others were Chijioke Ozumba (Dunukofia), Chimezie Obi (Ekwusigo), Stanley Nkwoka (Idemili North), Amaka Obi (Idemili South), Anayo Orjiako (Ihiala), Chinedu Ononiba (Njikoka), Echezona Anazodo (Nnewi North) and Chinedu Ezeogidi (Nnewi South).
Also sworn-in were Franklin Nwadialu (Ogbaru), Anthony Nwaora (Onitsha North), Emeka Orji (Onitsha South), Casmir Nwafor (Orumba North), Shedrack Azubuike (Orumba South) and Emma Nweke(Oyi).
The Deputy Chairmen of the local government areas were also sworn-in.
Governor Soludo while performing the function charged them to champion and deepen development at the grassroot level.
He congratulated the newly inaugurated chairmen on their election victory, emphasising the need for collaboration between the state government and the local governments to ensure that the state continues to experience its current growth and progress trajectory.
The Governor urged them to focus on providing basic amenities to the people and improving the lives of the citizens in their various constituencies.
While emphasising on the importance of accountability and transparency in the handling of public resources, Governor Soludo advised them to avoid corrupt practices and ensure that public funds are used judiciously to benefit the people.
Responding to the Governor’s remarks, the Mayor of Aguata, Dr. Ofobuike, Idemili South, Mrs Obi, their Anaocha counterpart, Comrade Ibekwe, and Oyi, Mr Nweke expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve their communities, pledging to work hard to deliver on the promises made during their election campaigns and to ensure that their local government areas experience tangible development.
