Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially scrapped the work-from-home policy for state government workers.

This was disclosed in a circular signed by the State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, stating that the cancellation will take effect from March 31.

“Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the State Public Service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of Public Servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the cancellation of the work from home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service,” the circular read partly.

“To this end, cancellation of the work from home initiative which had been in place since February 2024 will take effect from 31st March, 2025.”

The circular further urged public servants to fully rededicate themselves to their duties to enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“Accordingly, Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of this circular and give it the service-wide publicity it deserves,” it added.

The work-from-home policy was introduced in February 2024 as part of measures to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal on state workers.

Under the policy—later extended in September—workers on Grade Levels 01 to 14 were permitted to work remotely two days a week, while those on Grade Levels 15 to 17 were allowed to work from home once a week.
