The newly-appointed Commissioner of Police for the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, in Lagos, Mrs Rose Dung, has officially assumed duty as the 32nd officer to lead the unit.

Her appointment follows the promotion of her predecessor, Okunade Ronke, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Ovie Ewhubare.

Mrs Dung, who hails from Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the former Bendel State University, Ekpoma, now known as Ambrose Alli University.

She joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. Following her training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex in Kaduna, she began her policing career at the Abia State Police Command.

With over three decades of service, Mrs Dung has held several strategic positions in different formations and commands. These include Divisional Police Officer in Agbara, Ogun State; Commandant of the Police Training School in Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Bauchi State. Before her current posting, she served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A well-decorated and experienced officer, she has undergone several leadership and strategic courses and is affiliated with notable international bodies, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Women Police.

Upon assuming office, Mrs Dung expressed her appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for entrusting her with the new responsibility. She pledged to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, uphold the rule of law, and effectively carry out the Unit’s anti-fraud mandate.
