Rivers Students Shine In Quiz Competition As Four Win N19m
In a thrilling display of academic excellence, four schools in Rivers State have emerged winners in the Education Champions League (ECL) quiz competition, sponsored by Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of Platform Petroleum Ltd.
Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Abuloma took home the first prize of N10m, with Seacrest Preparatory School and Aladumo International School securing second and third places, respectively, with cash prizes of N5m and N2.5m. Enitonna High School claimed the fourth position, winning N1.5 million.
The event, held in Port Harcourt, at the weekend was dedicated to Dumo Lulu-Briggs’ late father, High Chief OB Lulu-Briggs (OON), and featured the “OB Lulu-Briggs Prize for Reading and Civic Awareness.”
The quiz competition, which is part of a broader initiative to cultivate a robust reading and writing culture among Nigerian youths, is said to promote community engagement and youth empowerment
The sponsor of the quiz, Lulu-Brigg, who proudly presented the awards to the winning schools, praised their academic achievements and encouraged all participants to continue pursuing knowledge.
“This is something meaningful the Education Champions League has done; it shows they understand the need to educate the next generation,” High Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs stated during the award ceremony.
He further noted, “Some of the books quizzed on spoke about value reorientation. Truly, as a people, we need value reorientation in each one of us. These young ones are teaching us. We must always allow the optimism of our will to trump the pessimism of our intellect.”
