PSG Favourites To Win Club World Cup – Enrique

Luis Enrique has backed his PSG team to go all the way at the FIFA Club World Cup in America following their 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid.
The European Champions produced a dominant performance to brush aside the Spanish team thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-in.
Enrique described it as a complete performance while showering praises on the players.
He said: “It was a very complete performance from the team today. We controlled the game from start to finish. The heat was a factor, but we adapted well and kept our focus.
“I’m very proud of the players, especially the young ones like Senny who stepped up. This is just the beginning; we have a long way to go in this tournament.
“The rhythm of our play was a bit lower than usual, but we were better,” Enrique said. “We trained at such a high level; this team loves to compete and we are ready to go as far as possible.
“I don’t have a single doubt. We’re the favourites to win the tournament.”
Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone admitted that PSG were the better side and they deserved the victory.
He said: “I cannot blame it on the heat – we both played in the same weather conditions. They played much better than we did. They have amazing players and that’s why they’ve just won everything.
“We played better in the second half. But Paris Saint-Germain is a wonderful team and they played a wonderful game.”
Up next for PSG is a clash against Botafogo on Friday while Atletico Madrid take on Seattle Sounders on Thursday.
