A shocking incident has been reported in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where a dead premature baby was found in a gutter in front of a compound on Ogbuagu Street, Mile 3 Diobu.

The landlord, Mr. Ogechi Ehirim, made the gruesome discovery while cleaning up in front of his yard.

According to Mr. Ehirim, he initially thought the baby was a doll but was later informed that it was a human being.

He narrates: “As I was doing the clean up, I saw a small baby inside the gutter infront of my yard,I thought is dull baby,I left it.

“Somebody now called me that I should come and see, that what I saw is human being not dull baby.I brought it out,is a small baby.

“I am calling everybody, the Police, let everybody help me find out who has the baby.Since I bought the compound I have not had rest of mind. After God gave me Money to buy the compound,I have been having issues, I dont know what I did to people.

“Every corner they are pursuing me Sometimes,I cannot sleep at night, cat will be crying at my window. Sometimes I will come out from my yard to see something I dont expect, I dont understand anymore.

“I am begging everybody to help me,I did not do anything weong to buy a yard, I did not steal money to buy the yard.I dont know what I did to people that they are pursuing me”.

The baby’s body has been retrieved, and Mr. Ehirim has reported the incident to the Nkpolu Police Division at RSU roundabout, Port Harcourt.

This incident is not the first of its kind in Port Harcourt, as similar cases have been reported in the past.

In July 2024, a vigilante group discovered a dead newborn baby dumped in a manhole along Ikwerre Road by Ekwe axis of Mile 3 Diobu. In April 2023, a vigilante rescued a newborn baby abandoned in a refuse dump in front of Mile 3 Motor Park.
