Police Rescue Suspect From Mob After Decomposed Body Found In Refrigerator

The Anambra Police Command, on Wednesday, said it rescued a man, simply identified as Leberechi, 30, from jungle justice in the Okpoko area of the state.
The suspect was accused of killing a 25-year-old and concealing the victim’s dismembered body inside a refrigerator in Okpoko.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was already unconscious when officers intervened on September 2.
He was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is currently under armed guard.
“The operatives visited the scene of the murder and discovered the decomposed body parts of the victim hidden inside a refrigerator,” Ikenga said.
“The remains were later evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy,” the command said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough probe.
“We will ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law,” the Commissioner assured.
