Police recover stolen vehicle in Nasarawa, launch manhunt for robbery suspects
The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of a stolen vehicle linked to a recent armed robbery in Lafia, while launching a manhunt for the suspects, who are currently on the run.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the robbery occurred on Thursday, July 10, when armed assailants stormed the residence of Aliyu Tijani, a staff member of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, located along Old Police Barracks Road in Lafia.
He said the suspects, during the attack, carted away a Toyota Camry with registration number LFA 77 ST.
Nansel stated that the police swung into action immediately, deploying tactical teams and initiating a search for both the fleeing suspects and the stolen vehicle.
Their efforts paid off when, acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Akwanga Division traced the vehicle to a location in the Lagos Park area of Akwanga.
“Upon sensing the approach of law enforcement, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene before police arrival,” the statement said.
Nansel added that the vehicle has since been recovered and moved to the station for further investigation.
He confirmed that the search for the suspects is ongoing, with reinforcements deployed along key routes across the state.
