Police Recover Stolen Anambra Transport Company Bus

Operatives of the Obosi Police Division in Anambra State have recovered a stolen shuttle bus belonging to the Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS) in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The recovery occurred on May 17 after the driver of the bus raised an alarm through a distress call to the State’s Police Command Control Room.
According to the spokesperson of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, a five-man armed gang disguised as passengers boarded and hijacked a shuttle bus.
“They dispossessed the driver of N20,000 and took off with the bus,” Ikenga said in a statement released on Sunday.
The police said its operatives responded and alerted nearby security checkpoints, forcing the suspects to abandon the vehicle at Slaughter Junction, Nkwelle, escaping through a bush path.
“The shuttle bus with registration number AGU 651 ZL, belonging to the Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS), has been recovered,” Ikenga confirmed.
He added that security patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further criminal activities and to track down the fleeing suspects.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement in the area.
