Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a drug ring after a raid on their hideout at the Timber Market, Dei-Dei, a suburb of the nation’s capital.

A statement by the command on Wednesday revealed that the arrest followed credible intelligence that the hideout was run by the group whose gang leader is currently at large.

The suspects including Nura Halilu, Salim Mohammed, Saifullahi Usman and Usman Mohammed are alleged members of the gang that operated in the hideout, known for drug dealing, stolen phones, and other crimes.

According to the police, one of the suspects had confessed to operating in the area for over 10 years while another suspect admitted to being part of an armed robbery and drug-dealing syndicate.

During the raid, police recovered one locally made gun, three live cartridges, three expended cartridges, four knives and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“All suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations,” the police said.
