The Abia State Commissioner of Police CP Danladi Isa has assured residents of the state of their safety ahead of the 30th May 2025 Biafra sit at home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

CP Isa in a security briefing with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders emphasized strict compliance with the Operation Order and directed officers to ensure proper supervision of their subordinates.

He further instructed that all formations must ensure the protection of their bases and government infrastructures.

DSP Maureen Chinaka, the public relations officer of the command in a statement reports that all units have been mandated to remain alert and proactive, most especially officers at strategic Points.

“Response teams are to be on standby and prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies”.

The CP also ordered the continued conduct of Operation Show of Force to be commanded by Area Commanders in collaboration with sister security agencies across the state.

The Commissioner of Police assures the good people of Abia State of a peaceful and secure month-end.

He however urged the general public to remain security-conscious and to support the police by promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or contact the Command’s emergency numbers via:
08079210003, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08035415405 in order to nip crime at the bud.

Recall that the IPOB had earlier declared a sit-at-home on May 30, 2025.

This according to the separatist group is to honour Biafran men and women who died during the Biafran War.

IPOB said the sit-at-home is a yearly memorial, noting that it was a way to remember Biafra heroes and heroines.

The group said it informed the South East and South South governors about the plan.

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, while declaring the sit at home in a statement said the day would include lectures in honour of Biafran heroes, both in Nigeria and abroad.
