Police Arrest Native Doctor, Others Over Murder Of Siblings
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four suspects linked to the gruesome murder of two seven-year-old siblings in Rukpokwu, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
The state’s police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, described the incident as “horrific” in a statement on Wednesday.
She confirmed that among those arrested were a native doctor and a teenage girl.
The suspects were apprehended on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
The victims, Chizaram Onuche and Chidinma Onuche, were reportedly lured by one of the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Aniekan Uko, while returning home from church.
They were allegedly drugged before being taken to an uncompleted building in the Ogbodo Pipeline area, where they were murdered.
According to Iringe-Koko, officers from the anti-kidnapping unit acted swiftly, leading to the arrest of the main suspect and his accomplices.
During the operation, the police recovered a kitchen knife used in the killings, an empty can of Black Bullet believed to have been used to drug the children, and a spoon allegedly used to collect their blood.
Further investigations revealed that Uko confessed to the crime, stating that he had visited a native doctor seeking wealth.
The native doctor allegedly demanded fresh human remains and blood for ritual purposes.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured the public that justice would be served.
He said, “Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and possible accomplices. The safety and security of all citizens remain our top priority.”
