Police arrest man for roaming Umuahia streets attacking passersby with machete

Officers of the Nigerian Police, Abia State Command have arrested a young man who was roaming the streets of Umuahia and violently charging at residents.

His arrest was made after a resident and founder of ABN TV, Ifeanyi Okali who spotted the threat, alerted the men of Central Police Station, CPS Umuahia.

The youth who was moving from one street to another, menacingly charged at people, creating panic along Ikot Ekpene road and other streets like Ojike street and Macauley street.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka said the young man suspected to being of unsound mind was apprehended and disarmed by the Police.

“The Police were alerted about a young man, suspected to be of unsound mind, seen roaming the streets in Umuahia with a machete.”

“The DPO Central Police Station Umuahia was alerted and has confirmed that the individual was apprehended and disarmed.”, DSP Chinaka said.
