Police Arrest Eight For Alleged Cult Killings In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight individuals in connection with a series of cult-related killings around Yaba College of Technology and its surrounding areas.
The arrests were made on Tuesday, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by tactical operatives of the Command, including the Eko Strike Force.
The suspects, identified as Adeyemo Abdulsamad (24), alias “Cloud”; Afeez Enitan (28); Ayomide Daniel (30); Olamilekan Adeagbo (26), alias “Skinny”; Mayor Samson (28); Basit Ishola (20); Quadri Sikiru (26); and Mariam Salihu (23), are believed to have been involved in multiple cult-related violent acts.
Recovered during the operation were one Beretta pistol, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, a cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses, indicating the violent nature of the suspects’ alleged activities.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the investigation is still ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in the cult-related activities.
“Tactical operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested eight suspects involved in several cult-related killings within Yaba College of Technology and its environs in an intelligence-led operation, which took place on April 29, 2025,” Hundeyin said in a statement on Wednesday.
“During the operation, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: one Beretta pistol, four 9mm ammunition, one cartridge, two battle axes, and two cutlasses.
“Investigation is still in progress to unravel the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in cult-related activities. Members of the public are assured that the suspects will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the operatives, stating that the Command remains committed to protecting the lives and property of Lagos residents.
He urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
The arrests come less than a week after a final-year student of Yaba College of Technology, identified as Swift, was killed by suspected cultists last Thursday.
Swift, a third-year National Diploma student in the Department of Marketing, was reportedly attacked and murdered near the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) building, close to the polytechnic campus.
His death follows the killing of another unidentified student by cultists just two days earlier, on Tuesday.
