The Rivers State Police Command said it’s operatives has arrested seven suspects in connection with the murder of Barrister Bright Owhor, a 46-year-old lawyer who was killed on July 6, 2025, in Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt.

The Command’s spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement on Monday said the police operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were deployed to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

She noted that through meticulous intelligence work and technical surveillance, the police identified and apprehended all individuals involved in the crime.

According to her, the suspects arrested include Prince Samuel, 30 years old, an armed operative; Daniel Godwin, 25 years old, driver of the getaway vehicle; Henry Peter, 24 years old, arm supplier and the one who shot the victim; Godfrey Emmanuel, aka Ibu, 30 years old, gang leader; Chukwu Nneji, 34 years old; Justice Dimkpa, 27 years old; and Promise Wikere, 22 years old, handler of stolen vehicles.

She added: “The police recovered several exhibits, including four locally made pistols, seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, two live cartridges, one Mini Bus, and one Toyota Camry.

“The suspects also confessed to being members of the Deygbam Secret Cult Group and admitted to their roles in the murder, withdrawal of funds from the victim’s bank account, and involvement in recent cult-related violence between BS and G12 Deygbam factions in Diobu, Port Harcourt.”

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operational prowess of the operatives, underscoring the command’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents.
