Delta State Police Command has arrested a 52 years old suspected female drug baron, identified as Egbule Isioma.
A statement released on Tuesday said she was arrested on August 29, when men of the Ughelli Area Command embarked on a raid of suspected criminal hideouts in lieu of the campaign against the use of illicit drugs and its subsequent effects on youths in the society.
Isioma, who operates a chemist store, was arrested alongside three of her apprentices namely Mercy John, Favour John and Amarachi Ngozi.
The suspects were said to have led the operatives to Isioma’s house at No. 31 Edile Street Afisere, where a search warrant was executed.
SP Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), confirmed in a statement that “During the search 355 bottles of CSC Codeine, 57 rolls of 50MG Tramadol capsules, 335 rolls of 100mg tramadol capsules, 33 rolls of 200mg super royal, 7 backwoods, 540 sachets of swinol capsules, and 16 cups of Canadian liquid cannabis were recovered.
“Investigation further revealed that the suspect is a major dealer in illicit drugs in Ughelli and environs.”
He explained that the raid was made possible through credible intelligence in relation to the activities of some persons known for drug peddling within Afisere/Ughelli town.
