PDP Will Win Sokoto In 2027 – Goranyo

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto, Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo, has declared that the PDP will defeat other parties in the state in 2027, saying it remains the last surviving political party among the five originally registered in 1998, affirming its continued relevance and resilience ahead of the next general elections.

Speaking during a quarterly strategic meeting held at the PDP State Secretariat in Sokoto, Goronyo emphasized the party’s enduring identity and grassroots strength, dismissing any rumors of a planned merger or rebranding.

“The PDP remains the last man standing among the five political parties registered in 1998. It is a grassroots movement and will continue to operate under its current identity,” he said.

The meeting brought together current and former executive members, zonal representatives, and local government leaders to assess the party’s performance and strategize for the future.

“This is our quarterly meeting involving all state executives, zonal representatives, and local government party leaders,” he explained. “It is part of our ongoing effort to evaluate our progress and realign our strategies moving forward.”

Goronyo used the opportunity to criticize the APC-led administration in Sokoto State, accusing it of mismanagement and poor governance.

“Since we left office, governance in Sokoto has taken a step backward. This administration is anti-people and anti-progress. From demolishing small businesses to failing to generate employment, their policies have only worsened the living conditions of the people,” he said.

He also raised concerns over the financial state of local governments, alleging a lack of transparency and developmental projects.

“In the past two years, there have been no significant projects in any of the 23 local governments. They claim to be saving funds, yet they struggle to pay salaries when allocations are delayed. The local governments are broke,” he added.

On the issue of security, Goronyo challenged the federal government’s assertions of improved safety, describing the situation in Sokoto as deteriorating.

“Killings and kidnappings occur daily, and there’s no effective response from the government. Security is a constitutional responsibility, and they are failing in that duty” .

Despite the setbacks, Goronyo expressed strong confidence in the PDP’s capacity to reclaim power.

“We are not sitting idle. We are actively sensitizing our members and intensifying our strategic planning. By the grace of God, the PDP will deliver in 2027 in Sokoto and across Nigeria,” he concluded.
