PDP No Longer Present In Ohafia, Ex-Deputy Speaker Boasts
The immediate past deputy speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu has claimed that PDP is no longer present in the Ohafia Local Government of the State.
Uchendu, in a Facebook post on Friday, said he has successfully convinced all former PDP members to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the former lawmaker, the only people left in the PDP in Ohafia local government area are a small group of close associates, often referred to as a “committee of friends.”
He stated that this shift has greatly strengthened the APC’s position in the area.
He wrote, “I, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and a dedicated APC chieftain have played a central role in making this transition happen, solidifying the APC’s influence in Ohafia.”
Recall that Uchendu had decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2024.
Uchendu, from Isiama Ward, who served in the 7th Abia Assembly and represented the Ohafia South State Constituency, was the chairman of media and publicity and spokesman of the House of Assembly.
The former deputy speaker had on May 24, 2017, joined the PDP from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he was elected to represent Ohafia South in the 6th Abia State House of Assembly.
