Paralympics: Nigeria’s Bolaji Qualifies For Badminton Semi-final
Nigeria’s Mariam Bolaji has qualified for the semi-final of the Badminton event of the ongoing 2024 Paralympic Olympic Games in Paris.
She defeated Mandeep Kaur of India 21-8 21-9 in their quarter-final clash in the women’s singles SL3 event.
Bolaji also defeated Kaur 21-8 and 21-14 in the group stage on Thursday before another dominant performance on Sunday to book her place in the last four of the event.
She also defeated Celine Vinot of Australia 21-8 and 21-14 to win the group and head into the last eight stage.
Bolaji will face Xiao Zuxian of China in the semi-finals later on Monday afternoon for a place in the final.
She became the first African Para-athlete to make the semifinals of the Para-Badminton event at the Paralympics.
