Palm Oil Supplier Jailed For Diverting Customer’s N184,000

An Area Court in Jos sentenced Ayodele Afariogun to 15 months imprisonment on Wednesday for swindling a businessman of 184,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, first gave the convict the option of a N30,000 fine or three months in jail for swindling.
Bokkos added that the convict should also pay a compensation of N184,000 to the complainant or go to prison for 12 months if the convict defaulted.
Earlier, the police Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the A Division Police Station, Jos, on August 8, by one Ibrahim Dahiru.
Dabit said the convict was given the sum of N184,000 to purchase seven jerrycans of palm oil in May but instead, he converted the money to his personal use and refused to supply the palm oil or refund the money.
The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to having committed the offence.
Dabit said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern.
