Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has ordered Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, to be vigilant and take appropriate action against anyone involved in the misappropriation of palliative distribution in the state.

He gave the directives in his speech at the flag-off of the palliative distribution of 59,000 bags of rice, each weighing 25 kg, and other assorted grains to less privileged persons across the 287 political wards in the state held at Dutse Government House.

Governor Umar Namadi said the federal government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, delivered the food items for emergency distribution to the people.

The assorted food items delivered by Federal Government included 13,825 bags of sorghum, 9,500 bags of millet, 11,500 bags of maize and 24,000 bags of rice, while the state government topped them up with 23,000 cartons of spaghetti, 5,000 bags of rice, 500 bags of sorghum and 5,000 bags of maize, ” the governor stated.

He explained that the state government has taken appropriate measures to ensure the judicious and equitable distribution of the palliative.

” I would like to assure the citizens of Jigawa State that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure accountability and transparency in distributing the food commodities provided by both the Federal Government and the Jigawa State Government.

“Security agencies, including operatives of EFCC, ICPC and Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, have been requested to remain vigilant from the sidelines and take appropriate actions for any observed misdeeds in the process.”

Speaking at the occasion, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Dalladi Sankara, said the beneficiaries were selected from across the 27 local government areas of the state.
