Our President Not Suspended – NDDC Contractors
The Board of Trustees of the Contractors Association of the Niger Delta Development Commission (CA-NDDC) has refuted claims of the suspension of its President, Mr Sylvester Tonye Iyade.
The Board, in a press statement on Tuesday, described the suspension letter, issued by some executive officers on March 18, 2025, as “misleading, procedurally and constitutionally defective”.
The statement, signed by five members of the Board of Trustees, including Mr Joe Adia, Mrs Oghogho Emeni, Prince Victor Fakar, Mr Friday Dollar, and Mrs Janai Obot, faulted the officers, emphasising that the process leading to the vote of no confidence and subsequent suspension of Mr Iyade did not follow the due process as outlined in the Constitution of the Contractors Association of NDDC.
The Board cited several procedural lapses, including the lack of proper notice, unestablished facts, and the exclusion of key founding and board members, including Mr Joe Adia, from the meetings.
The Board, however, declared the suspension null and void, urging the public, stakeholders, media, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to disregard the publication and recognise Mr Iyade as the legitimate President of CA-NDDC.
It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, unity, and constitutional governance, calling on members and partners to stand by the truth as they work towards building a stronger and more inclusive association.
Meanwhile, the development has brought to the fore concerns about the internal dynamics of the Contractors Association of NDDC, as some executive members of the association announced the suspension of Iyade for gross misconduct.
