‘One Chance’: FCT Police Speak On Robbers’ New Tactics

The FCT Police Command has described a recent tactic employed by the ‘One Chance’ gang as ‘new,’ urging citizens to be aware of the development and take necessary precautions.

THE WHISTLER reported how a “one chance” gang in Abuja has adopted a new tactic by disguising themselves as regular passengers at different bus stops to rob unsuspecting commuters.

According to the report, the “one chance” gang’s driver strategically picked up his accomplices at various locations to create a false sense of security.

A University of Abuja spokesperson, Habib Yakoob, who narrated the story on Facebook, disclosed how his colleague fell victim to the strategy and was robbed of his phone and money in a Golf car along Airport Road.

“That was how four bad guys, including the driver strategically positioned at every exit point of the vehicle, robbed my colleague and two other passengers. After collecting their phones and money, the bandits pushed them out of the car, while the man with the gun kept pointing it at them, daring anyone to make a sound. Then they zoomed off,” he said.

The victim, he said, is still grappling with the traumatic experience, urging citizens to be more cautious and vigilant.

Speaking to THE WHISTLER on the issue, the FCT command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said that police have not recorded any such incident, describing the tactic as new.

She urged the residents to promptly report all incidents to the police, adding that timely reporting will enable a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The FCT Police Command is not aware of any such incident at this time. We urge members of the public to promptly report all incidents to the police.

“Timely reporting enables us to investigate thoroughly, bring perpetrators to justice, and take proactive measures to prevent a recurrence,” she said.
