The Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, has urged athletes and coaches to uphold excellence and bring glory to Abia as Team Abia departs for the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Represented by Hon. Chinasa Anthony, Member of the House of Representatives for Umuahia Central and Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Ananaba called on the contingents to embody unity, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
He reminded the team that their performance reflects the “New Abia” vision of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, whose administration is committed to revitalizing all sectors of the state’s economy, including sports.
The commissioner assured the athletes of a state reception by the governor should they achieve outstanding results, reaffirming the government’s support for their efforts.
Before departure, prayers were offered for success, as the team expressed strong determination to make Abia proud on the national stage.
