The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of a man identified as Razak Jimoh by unknown gunmen in the Lantoro neighbourhood of the state capital, Abeokuta.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that it happened at approximately 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The deceased, aged 22, was reportedly being pursued by two masked individuals when he ran into a house for safety

The attackers then axed him on the leg, shot him in the head, and pulled him violently out to the passageway.

According to Odutola, as soon as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kemta Division received the information, detectives were dispatched to the murder scene.

Odutola disclosed that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators and assured the public that those responsible would face the law, while denouncing the incident that may be linked to cult-related activities.

The police urged locals to stay alert and notify the closest police station of any suspicious activity in the interim.
