Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has rewarded Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, side Bayelsa Queens players with the sum of N4 million each for winning the 2024-25 league title.
Governor Diri doled out the cash reward at a ceremony on Wednesday in Yenagoa.
Head coach, Whyte Ogbonda and the entire management team were also rewarded.
Diri urged the Prosperity Girls to aim for the 2025 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers ticket.
Bayelsa Queens will flag Nigeria’s flag at the biennial competition
“As you’re going for the WAFU Zone B, you should know that you’re not only representing Bayelsa State, but Nigeria, and you all know the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a sports loving president, so I urge you to come back home with the trophy,” Governor Diri stated in his address to the players.
Cote d’Ivoire will host the WAFU B Women’s Champions tourney for the second consecutive edition.
