NSCDC Averts Disaster As Petrol Tanker Falls Along Kaduna Road
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Saturday, averted a fire disaster after a petrol tanker fell along Guaraka, Kaduna Road.
NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, said men of the corps were deployed to prevent the public from scooping petrol from the fallen tanker.
According to the statement, the emergency response team was led by Deputy Commandant General of Operations, Philip Ayuba
“As soon as we received intelligence about the fallen tanker carrying Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), we immediately deployed our tactical teams to secure the area, preventing fuel scooping by hoodlums and ensuring public safety,” Ayuba stated.
The NSCDC worked in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to manage traffic congestion, control crowds, and ensure overall security in the affected area.
“We want to affirm that the situation is under control. Our emergency response team is fully on the ground, and this swift action has helped prevent further damages or escalations,” the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, was quoted as saying.
THE WHISTLER recalls that a recent fuel tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, claimed 86 lives and left many others injured.
The incident brought the country’s death toll from tanker explosion incidents between October 2024 and January 2025 to 262.
In October, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State reported that 181 people died following the tanker explosion that occurred in the state on October 15, 2024.
