Nnadozie, Madugu Nominated For Ballon d’Or Awards
Super Falcons coach, Justine Madugu, and goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie have been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
The nominations were announced on Thursday by French Football, organisers of the awards.
Madugu led Nigeria to an historic 10th WAFCON trophy in Morocco last month, and he has been nominated in the Women’s Team Coach of the Year category.
Nnadozie’s impressive form for Nigeria, and Paris FC was recognised with a nomination in the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy.
She is the first Nigerian goalkeeper to shortlisted for the prestigious Ballon d’Or honour.
Nnadozie was named the goalkeeper of the tournament at the just-concluded WAFCON in Morocco, and she was also named in the team of the tournament, highlighting her quality between the sticks.
Also nominated for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy are Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Hannah Hampton (England), and Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands).
The winner will be announced later this year in Paris.
Madugu will battle it out with the likes of Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor, Arthur Elias of South American champions Brazil, Arsenal’s Women’s UEFA Champions League winner Renée Slegers, and Sarina Wiegman, who led England to the Women’s Euros title in July.
