Nigerian Stocks Rise as All Share Index Gains 0.50%

Nigerian Stocks Rise as All Share Index Gains 0.50%

Nigerian stocks closed higher on Wednesday as the All-Share Index gained 0.50% to settle at 120,339.90 points, up from 119,741.23 points in the previous session.

Market capitalisation expanded by 0.50% to ₦76.180 trillion, from ₦75.801 trillion, representing an increase of ₦379 billion.

Trading activity involved one billion shares changing hands across 21,964 transactions, with a total value of ₦12 billion.

Market sentiment was positive, with 61 stocks recording price gains, while 15 securities declined.

Secure Electronic Technology, SMURFIT, THOMASWYAT, C & I Leasing, ELLAHLAKES, CUTIX, International Energy Insurance, and OMATEK topped the gainers’ list, each advancing 10.00% from their previous closing prices.

CAVERTON and MEYER also posted strong gains of 9.98% and 9.95%, respectively.

DEAPCAP led the declining stocks, dropping 9.09% to close at ₦1.00, down from ₦1.10 previously.

JOHNHOLT and Dangote Sugar were among other notable decliners, falling 5.41% and 5.32%, respectively.

Royal Exchange dominated trading volume with approximately 219 million shares traded in 117 transactions, worth ₦229 million.

JAPAULGOLD saw about 174 million shares change hands in 458 deals, valued at ₦473 million.

ELLAHLAKES recorded trading of roughly 83 million shares across 1,111 transactions, worth ₦762 million.
