Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, says the minors who fainted in court before their arraignment did it deliberately. Egbetokun, in a statement by Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, affirmed that under Nigerian law, individuals who have reached the age of criminal responsibility are accountable for their actions, regardless of their age.

2. There are indications that the Federal Government may withdraw the treason charge filed by the police against over 100 protesters. 3. British-Nigerian, Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke Badenoch, yesterday, emerged the leader of the UK Conservative Party, the first black ever to lead a major political party in the country. 4. The Zenith Labour Party has won most of the seats in the Abia local government elections held on Saturday. The party won 15 out of the 17 local government areas in the state. The Young Progressives Party won Osisioma and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas.

The embattled cross-dresser was stopped and removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos late Thursday night while attempting to leave the country for London, the United Kingdom.

6. The Federal Government, through its National Bureau of Statistics, has stated that in 2023, Nigerians paid N40.14bn in road taxes to state governments. This is according to an analysis of data from the Internally Generated Revenue report recently published by the NBS. The figure collected was a 63.36 per cent increase from the N24.57bn collected in 2022.

7. A man, identified simply as Muftau Adefalu, has allegedly killed his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police informed our correspondent that the suspect had since been arrested and detained following the death of Olayiwole.

8. There was a fire outbreak at a private telecommunications outfit in Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja on Saturday. Emergency responders were able to put out the fire after a serious battle.
