Nigeria Defeat Kenya To Qualify For Women’s Rugby World Cup Series

Nigeria’s senior women’s rugby team, The Green Falcons have defeated Kenya on a technicality to qualify for the Rugby League World Cup Series.

The Green Falcons battled with Kenya the first-ever rugby league Women’s World Cup qualifier in Africa, in a two-legged affair hosted at the NYS Headquarters in Nairobi.

Nigeria won the first match 22-14 on Thursday, Kenya bounced back to win the second match 8-0 to ensure a tie.

Both teams recorded four tries apiece throughout the series. However, Nigeria kicked 3 goals to 2 by Kenya, who also kicked 2 field goals which sealed Nigeria’s qualification as Africa’s sole representative to the inaugural 2025 World Series.

Nigeria is the sole Middle East and African representative in the World Series, which will also serve as a qualifier for the 2026 Women’s Rugby World Cup.
