Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago

Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has presented vehicles to the chairman and directors of the state’s revenue service in recognition of their exceptional performance.

This was according to a statement released Monday by Ibrahim Bologi, the governor’s press secretary.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Government House in Minna, comes after the revenue service generated over N100bn in a single year, exceeding their target in what the governor described as an unprecedented and commendable achievement.

During the ceremony, Governor Bago expressed his satisfaction with the revenue service’s performance and noted that they have been granted the authority to generate revenue, pay their salaries, and remit the remainder to the state government.

He encouraged the revenue officials to explore additional avenues that could potentially double their collection figures.

Muhammad Etsu, Chairman of the Niger State Revenue Service, thanked the governor for the gesture, attributing their success to the substantial support they have received since the current administration took office.

Etsu said the service is now autonomous and self-sustaining, adding that the vehicles would further motivate them to enhance the state’s revenue profile.

The chairman expressed confidence that doubling the current revenue is achievable, particularly as Niger State continues to industrialise and attract new investments, which he said would generate additional revenue streams.
