New Police Commissioner Declares Zero Tolerance For Corruption In Borno
The new Borno State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has pledged to adopt an intelligence-led, community-based approach to policing in order to address the state’s complex security landscape.
Speaking on Monday, CP Abdulmajid assured residents of his readiness to lead the Borno State Police Command with fairness and a strong commitment to peace and security.
“This Command under my leadership will adopt a professional, intelligence-led, and community-oriented policing approach that will address the unique security challenges facing our state,” he said.
He acknowledged the resilience of Borno residents amid ongoing security threats, adding that under his leadership, the command would build on existing efforts to curb crime, insurgency, and threats to public safety.
“I am fully aware of the complex security landscape, and I assure you that we will work relentlessly to sustain and improve the gains recorded in the fight against crime, insurgency, and other threats to public safety,” he stated.
To boost security, Abdulmajid said his administration would increase police presence, enhance cooperation with other security agencies, and deepen engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and the media.
“I believe strongly that security is a shared responsibility, and with your support, we can build a safer Borno,” he added.
He appealed for public support in intelligence sharing and encouraged an open channel for feedback and constructive dialogue.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to the public for cooperation, information sharing, and mutual trust. My doors remain open to suggestions and constructive engagement that will help us deliver better policing services,” Abdulmajid said.
Addressing officers of the Borno State Command, he emphasized professionalism, discipline, and zero tolerance for misconduct.
“To the officers and men of the Borno State Command: the expectations are high. I urge you to remain professional, disciplined and committed to our core values. Corruption, human rights abuses, and unethical conduct will not be tolerated. Together, we will raise the bar of excellence in service delivery,” he warned.
The commissioner expressed optimism that collective efforts would foster public trust in the police and ensure a safer environment for residents.
“In conclusion, I am optimistic that, working together, we will strengthen public confidence in the police and foster a secure environment where every resident of Borno State can live, work, and thrive in peace,” he concluded.
