NEMA, FRSC Contain Fire After Road Crash At Ibadan Roundabout
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has responded to a road crash and subsequent fire outbreak at Alesinloye Roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State.
NEMA’s Ibadan Operations Office said in an X post that it received a distress call and immediately activated its emergency response protocol.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident occurred when a vehicle lost control while negotiating the roundabout.
The vehicle reportedly plunged into a ditch and caught fire shortly after impact.
However, the rapid intervention by the Federal Fire Service, with support from other agencies, brought the fire under control and prevented its spread to nearby structures.
“The NEMA Ibadan Operations Office received a distress alert today, 10th April 2025, regarding a fire outbreak at Alesinloye Roundabout, Ibadan. In response, the Head of Operations, Mr. Olanrewaju Kadiri, promptly mobilized all relevant response stakeholders to the scene.
“Thanks to the swift intervention of the Federal Fire Service, supported by other agencies, the fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to nearby buildings within the vicinity.
“Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating the roundabout. The vehicle fell into a ditch and immediately caught fire,” the post read.
Emergency responders at the scene included NEMA, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), and Nigerian Red Cross.
No casualties have been confirmed as of the time of this report.
